Gimcrack Productions is largely Rosie's fault. Highly experienced writer, director, physical practitioner and musician, she decided one day to pick and choose from all these disciplines, add a few collaborators and Gimcrack was born. CV highlights include performing extensively on London's cabaret circuit, assisting on Fringe First winner Release by Icon Theatre, touring with Giffords Circus and playing the violin in a balkan and gypsy band. She has studied with Frantic Assembly, Told by an Idiot, Rachel Brice, Mira Betz (among other distinguished performers) and has a first class degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies from Warwick University. She loves the magic tingle she gets when she holds an antique and likes to listen to the stories told by objects. She is always up for a collaboration or five. Sleeping is often forgotten.
Carla is a second year university student and lover of all things macabre. She's been with Gimcrack Productions since its first show The End of the Line, part of London Horror Festival 2014. She has also been Marketing Assistant at Luscious Cabaret and Defiant Reality, and worked in conjunction with Omnibus Clapham on a promenade performance of Macbeth. Carla is very excited about continuing to introduce Moribund to the public.
A new addition to the Gimcrack Gang, Sophia also produces Theatre Productions, Variety nights and Cabaret shows in & outside London. She has been involved in production for different performing arts festivals such as: Mimetic Festival (as Production Assistant) and VAULT Festival (as Creative Producer for The Twins Macabre - Small Mediums at Large) as well as supporting shows that are a part of The Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In her spare time Sophia is learning to perform professionally as a Burlesque Performer and is also currently learning Aerial Hoop on the side! Sophia is very excited to be a part of Gimcrack Productions and cannot wait to prise open the dusty Gimcrack Mausoleum door to see what’s lurking inside...
A 2011 graduate of the Poor School, George has enjoyed a prolific career in London theatre since, specialising in comedic stage roles from Shakespeare and classics (Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Garcin in No Exit, Freddie in The Deep Blue Sea) to new writing (Baz in A Picture of Dorian Gray, Sigray in Blood Privilege, Daniel in The Rules of the Game) and finding consistently excellent critical acclaim for his work on stage.
He has also been involved in a host of TV and film projects (Holby City, Return of the Heydays, Men Without Women) and eagerly awaits the coming release of Benny Loves You, a terrific comedy horror feature film due out in 2016 by Darkline Productions.
He serves as compere to Gimcrack’s regular variety night Gimcrackery, offering cabaret performers a platform for new and experimental work, and with Gimcrack founder Rosie Kohl has also co-written and continues to co-perform Moribund, a breakout success at last years’ Edinburgh Fringe which will be playing at Live at Zedel in the Autumn of 2016.
