Young Eleanor Hush awakes to find herself at her own funeral with no memory of how she got there. Presiding over the service is Driscoll Bleak, funeral director and laconic guide to the post-mortem world. To find out how she died - and potentially regain her life – she must confront the realities of death that lurk in The Shadow.
Moribund delves with unflinching enthusiasm into death, dying, and the spectre of mortality that haunts us all. In a dizzying series of vignettes, songs, dances and sketches, Eleanor will encounter a fair few incongruous characters, dance the Rigor Mortis Tango, and end up challenging some of her – and our – deep-rooted preconceptions about the human body and its inevitable end. Grotesque, joyful and disturbing; join Eleanor on a quest from which there may be no return…
Moribund leapt into being at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015, garnering a five star review and wonderful audience feedback. Its January 2016 Drayton Arms was a Critic's Choice for January in This Is Cabaret, and it went on to a packed-out winter residency at Live at Zedel at the Crazy Coqs, Brasserie Zedel.
Big things are up and coming for MORIBUND in the future so keep your eyes peeled for further announcements!
